Trip Overview
The Khayar Lake Trek is an alternate captivating trekking destination of Annapurna Base Camp (ABC). It is one of the most of the eye-catching and magnificent trekking areas of Nepal, located in just day hike distance from Khopra Hill. It was discovered and was started to be used as a trekking route only a few years ago. The trek unlike others merges and blends in natural beauty with culture unknown to outside world. The journey combines both the element of beauty of nature in the city and the beauty of Himalaya and greenery.
The trek route though remains less crowded and has fewer tourists than other trails in this region. The major climax of Khayar lake trek is the view of Annapurna mountain range over the magnificent Khayar Lake at 4700m. The massive Annapurna region is captured in a unique and captivating dominance over the blue sky. The enormous Annapurna mountain range includes Annapurna South, Annapurna III,IV, Himculi , Machapuchre and many more. The scenic scenes of the green sceneries are also along the trail. The national flower of Nepal Rhododendron in the evergreen forests of the trail just adds cherry on top of the cake.
Along the twisting highways to Pokhara the monotony of one’s ride is taken over by the soothing sound of streams and green pastures. Poon Hill, one of charm of this trek is famous for its captivating sunrise through the mountain peaks of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri where the colour of the sunlight changes from pink to red. Khayar Lake trek also provides the opportunity to discover the cultural diversity of Nepal. The trail trails through many villages with their special traditional lifestyle and culture especially that of Magar, Tamang and Gurung community. We did the 12-day itinerary trekking to Everest Base Camp. We booked it all from England and communicated with the owner Hari via email. Such a nice family that owns and runs this business. Very friendly and welcoming. We had loads of cups of tea with them in their shop in Thamel before and after our trek.
