Trip Overview

Langtang Valley Trek: suitably called the valley of glaciers, offers a spectacular view of the Mighty Himalayas. The magnificence of rhododendron forests, slow-moving rivers, swift mountain streams, rugged rock, snowcapped peaks, grassy downs, and meadows strewn with daisies and wild primulas make this trek one of the iconic trekking in the Himalayas. The upper part of the valley provides a glimpse of snow bridges spanning angry torrents, high passes enveloped in mist, tiny lakes with icebergs floating on them, and water of crystalline brightness. A mixture of total natural beauty with the taste of local culture and their ethnic Tibetan lifestyle. Langtang trek is in the area of Tibetan culture and the home of Yak. The trek starts from Dhunche/Sybru Bensi and ends at Sybru Bensi again. From Sybru Bensi, you will follow the Langtang River to the east until you get to Kyangjing Gompa (3900m). From here we trek to Tserkuri (5184m) and have an excellent view of the mountain. Then we trek back to Sybru again.

Our trek experts will also provide some tips and help us in evaluating our trekking gears. . The Trekking Team office will provide you a special welcome dinner in the evening, a standard Nepali cuisine for everyone to enjoy. We stay the night in Kathmandu.

Included meals: Dinner

We begin the adventure thrilled package with a 40 minute flight to Lukla airport, situated between the high mountains, the flight to reach the airport is a unique experience for most of the visitors. Then we begin trekking towards Phakding, which is at a lower altitude than Lukla. So, our first day of trekking is rather easy with just about 3 hours of descending through the trails. About midway through the day, we also get a chance to capture the view of Mt Khumbila (18,900ft), a sacred mountain of the Khumbu region that has never been successfully climbed. We stay the night in Phakding.

Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

We look forward to a busy 7 hours of trekking as the trail from Phakding takes us through the deep alpine forest along with experiences on multiple suspension bridges along the way. Chomoa and Monjo lie on our trial, which marks the entrance to Everest national park via Jorsalle Entrance Gate. After travelling ashore the Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi rivers and making steep ascent for about 6 hours, we finally reach the famous Sherpa village of Namche Bazaar. We stay the night in Namche Bazaar.

Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Our fifth day marks the first acclimatization point in the hustling village of Namche Bazaar. Located at the edge of a hill, the feeble settlement of Namche expanded in size with the swell in demand of products that accompanied the storm of pioneers following in the strides of Sir Edmund Hillary's fruitful conquest of Mount Everest. The village now has lot of services to offer including ATMs, internet cafes, fancy restaurant and busy market places. The wonderful sunrise view of mountains like Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam can also be observed from this region. We stay the night in Namche Bazaar.

Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

We look forward to a mildly steep trek day ahead of us as we pass through the famous Syangboche airstrip, where one can get a close up view of the world’s tallest peak. We continue our climb and reach the beautiful village of Khumjung surrounded by the holy Khumbila mountains. Walking alongside Dudhkoshi River, and then making a hard steep climb for about 2 hours, we finally reach Tengboche. Here, we visit Tengboche Gumba and observe the panoramic views of Tawache, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Everest. We stay the night in Tengboche.

Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

We start early in the morning and continue on the trail which now descends from Tengboche until we reach Debuche. Here, we cross another exciting suspension bridge over the Imja Khola and reach Pangboche where we are rewarded with more amazing views of the mountain range and also get a glimpse of the Pangboche monastery. We climb slowly and gradually through the trail so as to avoid being affected by the altitude sickness, finally reaching the Sherpa settlement of Dingboche. We stay the night in Dingboche.

Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

The 7th day marks our second stop for acclimatization in the Himalayas. We take our leisurely time to explore the stone walled fields in the Dingboche village which are covered with barley, potatoes and buckwheat. The stone walls prevents grazing animals as well as the strong chilly winds from destroying the limited crops that grow in the village. We also utilize the time to take small hikes to nearby viewpoints (Nagarjun hill or Chukkhung valley) to get some panoramic shots and enjoy the views of Lhotse, Makalu. Tawache and Chalotse.

Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Today, the trail proceeds alongside the mountain with Khumbu Glacier and we pass by multiple stone commemorations set up for climbers who had died on various summits. We keep on forging higher, taking steep ascents as we make our way towards the town of Lobuche which is situated at the foot of mammoth Lobuche peak. We stay the night in Lobuche.

Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

We look forward to a long and exciting day ahead of us as the long journey to the base camp is finally realized. We begin the day with a relatively easy trek until we reach Gorak Shep. From here onwards, the air gets very thin and might cause breathing difficulties. So, we move forward with caution and follow the directions of our guide. Tackling the rugged trails formed from glacial debris, we force our way through the steep path onto the base camp. As we reach the base camp of the world’s tallest peak Everest, we can observe the colorful tents of different mountaineering teams scattered across the snow-filled canvas. We utilize the limited time available to take photographs and appreciate the views of mountains Nuptse, Khumbutse and Pumori. Then, we quickly descent through the same trail and head back to Gorak Shep to end our tedious day. Additionally, trekkers can also choose to head further down to stay the night in Kala Patthar as the sunset view from this village is a treat to everyone’s eyes. The trekkers who wish to head further down to Kala Patthar on the same day may contact the guide beforehand and he/she will making necessary arrangements accordingly. But trekkers need to make sure that they can handle the extra stress following a long day of trekking.

Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

We continue our trek early in the morning, maintaining slow and manageable pace so that we don’t put high strain on our torsos. After walking for few hours, we reach Kala Patthar located at the southern ridge of Pumori. The climb of Kala Patthar is exceptionally well known with trekkers in the Khumbu region. Due to the structure of Everest, it's summit is vastly obstructed by Nuptse when viewing from a significant part of the Khumbu region. But it does not apply to the view from Kala Patthar as one can get spectacular and clear view of Everest from this notable landmark.. Additionally, staggering views of Nuptse, Changtse and Lhotse peak can also be seen from Kala Patthar. After taking ample photographs, we continue our descent towards Pherice. We stay the night in Pherice.

Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

We look forward to a relatively easy day of trekking. Continuing our fast paced descent alongside the Dudh Koshi gorge, we walk across deep forest regions blooming with Rhododendrons. Midway through the way, we reach Sansa village which offers pristine views of Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Nuptse mountains. In the afternoon, we reach Namche Bazaar and utilize the leisure time to make some last minute shopping in the busy markets of Namche. We stay the night in Namche Bazaar.

Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

We descend with caution across the rocky terrain and after crossing the Dudh Koshi river twice on separate occasions, we pass Phakding village before reaching the airstrip in Chauri Kharka. From Chauri Kharka, we make our final climb towards the village of Lukla. We stay the night in Lukla and celebrate our accomplishment of trek.

Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

We pack our bags early in the morning to catch our flight to Kathmandu. Before heading back, we bid farewell to some of the local staff members, who will no longer be accompanying us. You can enjoy the short 40 minute flight, watching beautiful scenes of the mountainous topography through the window. The leisurely day in the capital city can be utilized to make some last minute shopping. We end the final day in Nepal with a gracious farewell dinner. We stay the night in Kathmandu.

Included meals: Breakfast Dinner

We did the 12-day itinerary trekking to Everest Base Camp. We booked it all from England and communicated with the owner Hari via email. Such a nice family that owns and runs this business. Very friendly and welcoming. We had loads of cups of tea with them in their shop in Thamel before and after our trek.
